Hello and welcome to my site!

I am an international education professional based in beautiful Portland, Oregon where I currently work as the Programming and Marketing Intern at the Intercultural Communication Institute. I am a Master's graduate from the International Education Management program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, and a bachelor's graduaute from the International Studies and Anthropology programs at the University of Oregon. My passion for international experiential learning and intercultural communication has guided my own international and intercultural education from a young age. I plan to pursue a career in international education with a focus on intercultural work, intern, volunteer, and service programs for both American students abroad and international students in the United States.

I have experience studying, working, and volunteering in intercultural environments abroad, as well as managing international student programs domestically. At seventeen, I studied abroad at a Spanish high school in Alicante, Spain. At nineteen I backpacked through Panama, Belize, and Mexico. At twenty-one I volunteered and lived in Cusco, Peru, and later traveled on my own through Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. At twenty-two I worked as a nanny and housekeeper in Italy, and the journey continues! One powerful aspect of my growth in the area of international and intercultural education is my recognition that my intercultural learning is based on enhancing my transferrable skills and knowledge. I know that my time studying, working, and volunteering internationally promoted more indepth learning during my travels and graduaute studies. Further, this background supported my professional efforts as an Activites Manager and Recruiter for an international language program, EF Language Travel, where I promoted and counseled host families, developed intercultural programming, facilitated international student orientations, advised international students and language trachers, and managed an international staff team.

I know that international learning and intercultural competence are lifelong pursuits, and I plan to bring a perspective of cultural humility to my career as an international and intercultural education professional. I beleive that the confidence and individual character built through international study, internship, work, and service are invaluable traits that develop young people into globally-conscious, compassionate adults. I plan to devote my professional career to facilitating such international programs to assist students on their path to intercultural understanding and commitment to international involvement.
